The direct answer: for Friday October 30 through Sunday November 1, 2026, Halloween weekend, the confirmed slate around Demorest runs on Helen Oktoberfest's closing days, the family Halloween stops at NOGAWILD and on the Clarkesville and Dahlonega squares, and the honest note that nothing is confirmed inside Demorest itself. Every entry below is drawn from the organizer's own published schedule, each carries its source link, and schedules can shift, so check the linked page before you drive.

The lead story: Helen Oktoberfest closes

The 56th annual Helen Oktoberfest, the longest-running Oktoberfest in the country, closes this weekend at the Festhalle, 1074 Edelweiss Strasse. Halloween night, Saturday, October 31, runs 1:00 to 11:00 p.m. with Friday and Saturday admission at $15, and Sunday, November 1, the final day, runs 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. with free admission. Live German music, dancing, and Bavarian food carry both days. Source: the Helen Chamber of Commerce.

Halloween in the mountain towns

  • Boo at the Zoo at NOGAWILD Animal Park, 1201 Duncan Bridge Road in Helen, runs Friday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with games, a pumpkin contest, and treats for kids in costume; regular park admission applies.
  • Scares on the Square runs Saturday, October 31, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on the Dahlonega square, with trick-or-treating at the downtown businesses around the historic courthouse block; free.
  • Trick-or-Treating on the Square runs Saturday, October 31, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in downtown Clarkesville, the Habersham County seat's family stop; free.
  • The Habersham News roundup lists no 2026 event inside Demorest itself for this weekend; the town's own guide says so plainly rather than padding the list.

The honest note

Everything above is the schedule as published on October 26, 2026. Outdoor events, admission details, and performance schedules can change, so check the linked organizer pages before you travel. The mountain fall festivals that drew October crowds, including the Georgia Apple Festival, Gold Rush Days, and the Sorghum in the Mountains Festival, all concluded earlier in the month; Oktoberfest is the last big run standing.
