I'll tell you what I'd do if it were my house: pick one drive and do it slowly, not two drives fast. Each guide below carries the numbered stops, the verified miles between them, and a schedule that actually fits a day.

The one-day classic from the I-985 side of the county: up the freeway, over the foothills, and into the alpine village.

Ellijay Apple Country Drive
Highway 52 East out of Ellijay: a 10-mile corridor of orchards, farm stands, and pick-your-own fields, with the Georgia Apple Festival behind it every October.

Scenic Train Trips from Northeast Georgia

Every guide opens with the quick answer, then the key stats: distance, drive time, time to allow, and best season. The numbered stops carry only verified miles and minutes from the stop before, plus parking, restroom, food, and coffee notes where those actually exist.
The suggested schedules are built from the same drive times, so the day fits the road. Family notes and weather notes come last, where they belong, after the driving.
Where the numbers come from
Verified, or left out
Distances and drive times are non-stop estimates drawn from published route sources and change with traffic, weather, and construction. Park and attraction fees come from the operators' own pages. Anything this guide could not source is simply not printed.
All routes use public roads and normal vehicles. Call ahead before relying on any park, shuttle, or attraction schedule, especially in wet weather and fall weekends.
