Barrow County · The US 29 / 316 corridor

Winder

The county seat with a state park at its back.

Winder is the seat of Barrow County, a genuine small city with a courthouse district downtown, an amphitheater park still doing the job of a main street, and Fort Yargo State Park minutes from the center. It sits at the crossing of US 29 and State Route 8 with State Route 316, which makes both the Atlanta and Athens runs practical, and it stays the quietest of the cities on this corridor.
