Getting oriented · South Gwinnett

For New Residents

The first month in Grayson is mostly administrative, and the split is easy to remember: the city handles sanitation, planning, and programs, and Gwinnett County handles water, sewer, police, and fire. Set up the utilities, register to vote with the county, get a library card at the Grayson Branch, and the rest of the city opens up quickly.

This page is the orientation file: who does what, what to set up first, and the handful of places new residents actually need in the first month. Everything here is verified by name and location.

Set up first

Water, sewer, and trash

Water and sewer

Gwinnett County Public Utilities

Water and sewer service in Grayson runs through Gwinnett County Public Utilities. Set up the account with the county, and keep the county's line in the phone for service questions.

Trash and recycling

Through the city · Latham Home Sanitation

The city contracts sanitation through Latham Home Sanitation, with regular pickup for residents. Call City Hall at 770-963-8017 to set up service.

Natural gas in the Grayson area is provided by the City of Lawrenceville, a regional arrangement worth knowing before your first winter bill. New homeowners should ask the closing attorney what is already in their name and what needs setting up.
