Things to do
Campus, springs, and the mountain gateway
- Piedmont University: the 1897 campus, open lawns, the historic buildings, and the athletics calendar.
- Demorest Springs Park: the playground, the walking path, and the July 4th festival that has run for generations.
- The mountain gateway: Helen is 15 minutes, Tallulah Gorge 30, and the foothills start at the city limit.

Springs, trails, and the county system
Demorest Springs Park is the town's outdoor room, Cornelia's city park covers the north side, and the Habersham County system runs the fields and programs. Fitness runs through the county centers and the trails. This weekend's confirmed events run on the events calendar, and the local businesses are on the business directory.
Schools, healthcare, and services
The county provides the practical layer
Schools run through Habersham County; healthcare through the Habersham Medical Center system and the corridor urgent care; and churches, libraries, and senior and community programs through the county network. The college adds its own public layer, from campus events to the athletic facilities.
History
1897 and the college
Habersham County issued the charter for Piedmont's forerunner, the J.S. Green Collegiate Institute, in September 1897, and the college has defined the town ever since, becoming Piedmont University in 2021. The springs park's July 4th celebration is a community tradition nearly as old.
