About Loganville
Loganville is a city that spans Walton and Gwinnett counties, most of it in Walton, on the Highway 78 corridor about thirty-six miles east of Atlanta. It began as a settlement called Buncombe, was renamed for James Harvie Logan, who bought the land in 1842, and was incorporated in the 1880s.
The city grew around the railroad branch that arrived in 1897, and today it runs a mayor-council government with a Main Street downtown and the county parks on both sides of the line.

The settlement that became Loganville was first settled in the 1840s and originally called Buncombe. James Harvie Logan bought sixty-two and a half acres at a sheriff's sale in November 1842, and the community was renamed Loganville in 1851 in his honor. A railroad branch line arrived in 1897, and the city grew around it on the Highway 78 corridor.
