Which county is the address in?

Gwinnett and Hall both run inside the city. The county decides the public school district, the ballot, and part of the tax bill. Confirm your side with the county assessor and school boundary maps before you pick the address.

Which school district follows?

Addresses inside the city limits feed Buford City Schools, an independent city district. Addresses outside the city limits, even with a Buford mailing address, follow Gwinnett County or Hall County schools. The schools page has the full breakdown.

Set up

Utilities, vehicles, and the library card

Water, sewer, and sanitation come from the city of Buford; set up the account with the city before the keys change hands.
Register your vehicle with the Georgia Department of Driver Services and tag it in whichever county your address falls in.
Register to vote through the Gwinnett or Hall county elections office, depending on the address side.
