About Hoschton
Hoschton is a city in Jackson County, founded in 1881 by the four Hosch brothers in hopes of landing the railroad, and named for the merchant Russell A. Hosch. The depot went up in 1883, the Georgia General Assembly incorporated the city on December 18, 1891, and the railroad turned it into a cotton-shipping hub.
Today Hoschton is a fast-growing city right next to Braselton, with a single-street downtown anchored by the restored depot and a festival calendar that fills the City Square green through the year.

Four brothers, one depot, and a cotton hub
The Hosch brothers founded the settlement in 1881 in hopes of influencing the route of the Gainesville, Jefferson and Southern Railroad, and they donated the land for the depot that went up in 1883. The line, later the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, turned the city into a cotton-shipping hub for the surrounding farms and merchants. The city took its name from Russell A. Hosch, the merchant the brothers' enterprise revolved around.
Hoschton sits in Jackson County, immediately west of Braselton, and it has grown fast in the 2020s while keeping a downtown that still fits on one street: the restored depot, the City Square, and the restaurants around them.
