Moving to Atlanta
The move to Atlanta starts with the address check: which county, which school district, and which MARTA station are the facts that decide everything else. Fulton and DeKalb both run inside the city.
After that the checklist is standard big-city fare: utilities with the city, vehicle registration with Georgia, a MARTA card if you will ride, and an honest commute test before you commit.

Which county is the address in?
Fulton and DeKalb both run inside the city limits. The county decides courts, parts of the tax bill, and county services. Confirm with the county maps.
Which school district follows?
Most city addresses feed Atlanta Public Schools; DeKalb-side slivers feed DeKalb County School District. Check the boundary maps before picking an address.
Set up
Utilities, tags, and the transit card
- Water and sewer come through the city's watershed department; power runs through the Georgia Power territory with retail choice.
- Register your vehicle and tag it in the county your address is in, Fulton or DeKalb.
- Get a MARTA Breeze Card if the rail or bus is part of the plan.
- Register to vote through the Fulton or DeKalb elections office.
