For New Residents
The first month in Suwanee is a short list: set up the utility accounts, register the vehicles with Georgia, get the Gwinnett library card, and learn the Town Center, because that is where the city actually lives.
None of it is complicated, and most of the first month is best spent at the park and the farmers market, where the city does its socializing.
Set up first
The essentials, in order
Water and sewer follow the city and county utility arrangements for your address, and electricity, gas, and internet are standard provider choices. The city of Suwanee publishes its department contact points on its official site.
Register
Vehicles, voting, and the library
Vehicle registration runs through the Georgia Department of Driver Services and the Gwinnett County tag office. Voter registration goes through the Gwinnett County elections office. The library card comes from Gwinnett County Public Library, and the Suwanee branch at 361 Main Street sits right at the edge of the Town Center.
First month
Learning the city in a week
The Town Center
Town Center Park, the amphitheater, and the Big Splash fountain are the city's front yard: the farmers market Saturdays, the concerts, and the dining blocks all orbit it.
The park map
Sims Lake Park and Suwanee Creek Park hold the everyday green space, and George Pierce and Peachtree Ridge add the county-scale parks.
The commute
I-85 runs the city's west side, which makes Suwanee a realistic stop for work across the region.
